Create your own components when the shared library doesn't have what you need, with AI assistance, and a PCB footprint library.

Editing, Locking, Marking Verified, and Deleting a Footprint

On each footprint card you have permission to manage (as the owner), there are the following buttons:

  • Edit / View: click "Edit" to reopen the form (skipping the scope-selection step since the scope was fixed at creation time). If the footprint is currently locked, the button shows "View" instead of "Edit," and every field in the form becomes read-only, with a banner "Footprint is locked — unlock before editing."
  • Lock/Unlock: click the lock icon button (🔒/🔓) to lock or unlock it. When locked, the card shows a lock icon next to the name.
  • Mark verified: click the "✓" button to mark it as "Field-Tested" (or click again to unmark it) — when enabled, the card shows a green "Field-Tested" badge.
  • Delete: click "Delete" → a confirmation dialog "Delete footprint "<name>"? This action cannot be undone."

Result: The deleted footprint disappears from your list immediately.

Important — rule for deleting shared footprints: If a footprint belongs to the Shared Library and is currently in use by at least one place, the "Delete" button no longer appears, even for the original author. There is no exception that allows deleting a shared footprint that's currently in use.

When you assign a footprint from the Shared Library to a component on the PCB (in the PCB tab of Workspace, the component's properties panel → choose a footprint from the list, "Community" group), that footprint's usage count increases accordingly.

Note about locking: just like hardware modules, locking only blocks editing content, not deleting (for personal footprints) — a locked personal footprint can still be deleted normally by its owner.

Example

After field-testing the "SIP 6-pin 2.54mm" footprint by soldering it onto a real board and confirming the dimensions are correct, click the "✓" button to mark it as "Field-Tested" — a green badge appears on the card, giving you (and others, if it's contributed to the Shared Library) confidence when reusing this footprint for a future project.
