The FC-37 has 2 parts: a sensing pad (exposed parallel copper traces) and an LM393 comparator circuit board. When rain falls on the sensing pad, the copper traces get short-circuited through the water film, lowering the resistance between them — the more rain, the lower the resistance, and the lower the analog voltage reading.
