A complete guide for IoTLabs Maker members — how to create projects, use the design tools, and join the community.

IoTLabs Maker Member Guide



Welcome to the IoTLabs Maker community! This guide will help you get familiar with the platform and make the most of its features.


1. Getting Started



1.1 Creating an Account


1. Click Sign Up in the top-right corner
2. Fill in your name, email, and password
3. Verify your email (check your inbox)
4. Complete your profile with an avatar and bio

1.2 Your Profile


  • Go to Account → Profile to edit your information

  • Add your GitHub, YouTube, or personal website links

  • A public profile helps the community get to know you


2. Circuit Design Tool



IoTLabs Maker provides a visual circuit-diagram designer right in your browser.

2.1 Creating a New Diagram


1. Go to Projects → Create New
2. Drag and drop components from the catalog panel on the left
3. Connect pins by dragging from one pin to another

2.2 Component Library


  • Boards: ESP32, ESP8266, Arduino Uno/Mega, Raspberry Pi

  • Sensors: DHT11/22, DS18B20, MPU6050, BMP280, ultrasonic

  • Actuators: Relay, servo, motor driver, LED matrix

  • Power: LiPo charger, DC-DC converter, voltage regulator

2.3 Exporting


  • PNG/SVG: export the diagram as an image

  • PDF: technical documentation

  • BOM (CSV): a component list

  • JSON: share and reuse the design


3. Managing Projects



3.1 Creating a New Project


1. Go to Projects → Create Project
2. Fill in the title, short description, and select a difficulty level
3. Add relevant tags (ESP32, MQTT, Raspberry Pi…)
4. Attach a circuit diagram from the design tool

3.2 Project Structure


Each project includes:
  • Overview: describes the goal and outcome

  • Steps: detailed, step-by-step instructions

  • Component List: a BOM with quantities and purchase links

  • Circuit Diagram: the hardware wiring design

3.3 Project Status


  • Draft: being written, not yet public

  • Pending Review: submitted, awaiting admin review

  • Approved: public on the community

  • Rejected: needs revision based on feedback


4. Groups & Community



4.1 Joining a Group


  • Find a group by topic: ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Smart Home, Robotics…

  • Click Join to connect with members who share your interests

4.2 Creating a Group


1. Go to Community → Create Group
2. Set a name, description, and avatar
3. Invite members by email or a shareable link


5. Community Guidelines



To keep a positive learning environment:

  • Be respectful: treat every member courteously

  • Be accurate: share information you've verified

  • Cite sources: credit references when needed

  • No spam: avoid posting duplicate content or advertising

  • Help each other: support newcomers


6. Member Levels

|--------|-----------|-----------|
| New Maker | Sign up for an account | View projects, create basic diagrams |
| Maker | 1+ approved project | Post unlimited projects |
| Senior Maker | 5+ projects, highly rated | A special badge, priority review |
| Mentor | Appointed by an admin | Helps review projects |
